ALA Student Organization

The American Library Association Student Chapter of the Library and Information Studies Program at Old Dominion University (ALA@ODU) is dedicated to the educational, professional, service, and social enrichment of the students of the School Library Program. Membership in ALA@ODU is free, and American Library Association (ALA) membership, while not required, is encouraged. Officers consist of Library and Information Studies students. The group's focus is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information about issues, trends and opportunities in the profession and to develop skills and relationships that will enable students to have a creative impact on the profession.

Graduate Assistantships

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

Graduate assistantships are often available for full-time students. A full-time student must register for 9 credit hours in the fall and spring and 6 credit hours in the summer (some graduate assistants do not work during the summer). Please contact the program advisor or Graduate Program Director for more information.

Accreditation

The Master of Library and Information Studies Program at Old Dominion University is accredited by the American Library Association Committee on Accreditation, with the status of Initial accreditation. The next comprehensive review visit is scheduled for Fall 2028.
